Save the Date shaker postcard

Hello all! Hope everyone is having a lovely summer. I’m in the Middle East and believe me when I say the Sun is calling! You will see that this is the inspiration with which I made this Save the Date postcard that’s also a fun shaker card!

I used this image from On Our Travels Stamps that I blew up to approximately an A2 card size (approx 4.25″ x 5.5″). I printed this on white cardstock and then cut the image out. I used a Xacto knife to cut the main scenery out while maintaining the Polaroid frame.

I colored the images with Arteza brush pens and OLO markers, except for the sand portion.

I knew that wanted to create a textured sand effect but I wasn’t sure how to go about it. I first tried textured paste by Ranger and added some brown to the paste. When I applied it with the spatula, it wasn’t working very well. I then used a round bristle brush and kept dabbing it to the surface to create the sand effect, which was much more successful! I also added some gold embossing powder to add a bit of shimmer to the sand. I let all this dry before assembling the card.

In the meantime, I stamped the words “Save the Date” at the bottom of the Polaroid frame using Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.

To complete the scene inside the shaker window, I added the date of the wedding and a picture of the couple who will be wed on the beach, along with some pink seashell embellishments.

I created a transparent window with acetate and double-sided foam for the shaker window.

I added some loose blue sequin embellishments and white shiny embossing powder inside the window and then stuck the Polaroid frame over it to create the shaker card.
