January was a busy month for scrappers over at The Lilypad with the launch of our 5th annual Month of Challenges (MOC) event! The MOC is a great way to kick start your creativity after the busy festive period with a new scrapbooking challenge or prompt posted every single day throughout the month. Even if you weren’t able to join in, you can still find all the challenges and lots of inspiration over in the MOC forum. Lots of my Creative Team members played along with the MOC, some doing all the challenges and some just dipping in and out throughout the month. When I asked the team to share some of their favourite recent pages for February’s Team Favourites many of them picked pages they had created for the MOC. Here’s what they came up with, I hope they inspire you!
Pirates by Lorry
“This is from part of our minicruise to Oslo. There were a lot of fun activities on the ship, and the kids really enjoyed it. This was their favorite part, a pirate-themed scavenger hunt.”
Watercolour by Agnes
“This is my fav !!! It shows off my watercolour accomplishment. And it got me my 1st GSO in 2017!!!”
First Job by Kirstie
“I love this one because I managed to use so many different element packs AND because its about my eldest getting her first job.”
Christmas Cookies by Kristina
“My recent FAVORITE is my songbook project. I’m still gloriously proud of that. Lol! Here is a recent one I made for MOC challenge of a double spread. I really enjoyed picking which Christmas elements from the many, many choices in the shop! And, the kids had fun making these. It was just fun all the way around!”
Singing in the Rain by Amy
“This is by far one my most recent favorites I made for MOC. I love how the page design came out, but more importantly it was the special memory of sharing this special song with my grandma!”
2016 Highlights by Christa
“This is a favorite page of mine as I finally got to meet in person Vivian Howard of “A Chef’s Life” at the book signing of her cookbook. We have been watching her show for 4 years now and have been to both of her restaurants in NC twice. Each time we went, I have first of all LOVED the food, but secondly I have met some of the people that appear on the show too. Just wonderful people, wonderful food, and it was a blast meeting “TV personalities” in person! Fun Times! This page shows that, further enhanced by the elements from Movie Night and the coordinating alpha Name in Lights.”
Ka-pow! by Molly
“I made this layout for MOC Day #20 (Perfectly Imperfect). I used the Super Duper element pack, and I really like how well the doodles ended up pairing with the template I used (Focal Point Templates 2 by Scrapping With Liz). It seemed like the two flying superhero elements were just perfectly designed to fit in all of the blank spaces between the photos. I did end up with some blank space in the background that I wanted to fill, but I was able to merge two of the building elements from the original element pack and then use the clone brush to create one larger building to fill in that space, so I was pretty proud of myself for that. Also, in the original photo series, my kids were moving around a lot on the playground, so their heads were tilted at all sorts of different angles, but I was actually able to use that to my advantage in this layout and create sort of a natural arch of movement around the page. I think it turned out really well! It’s a fun, colorful page that also tells the story I wanted to tell.”
Sleep Tight by Karen
“This layout I made with one of my favorite products from Kate, all these doodles are beautiful and I love the color palette of this kit!”
Found Him! by Melanie
“What I love most about Kate’s doodles is the ability to tell a story with them! They are more than just decorations on the layout. I used the doodle pack “Under the Sea” for this layout, and I was able to create an entire ocean scene that puts my photo in context. And I can never resist Kate’s animals with happy faces!”
Tardis Chair by Olga
“I made this page with Bigger on the Inside doodles to commemorate and celebrate the bibliochair that my husband and daughter built almost a year ago, and how frequently she sits in it reading, always melts my heart, I love the doodles that come with Kate’s set, the quotes always make me smile.”
Happily Ever After by Jenni
“In a day when “Happily Ever After” doesn’t necessarily have much “ever after,” it’s great to see the couples who stick together through everything. My aunt and uncle are one example of “ever after,” celebrating their 50th anniversary last October.”
