A decade of doodling

by Kate

Today is my design anniversary: exactly ten years ago today I opened my shop at The Lilypad! A whole decade of doodling – wow! It has been an amazing journey and I am so grateful to have been able to turn what started as a little side-line to my digital scrapbooking hobby into a full-time job. My sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported me over the years and allowed me to carve a career for myself doing what I love – drawing and creating fun illustrations for scrapbookers, crafters and teachers! Thank you so very much.

To celebrate my anniversary, I am holding a contest and a giveaway! If you have followed me for a while you’ll be familiar with the Custom Doodle Contest, this year there’s also a Gift Certificate giveaway for you to enter, wherever you prefer to shop!

$25 Gift Certificate Giveaway

To enter the giveaway to win a $25 GC to your choice of either Kate Hadfield Designs, The Lilypad or Teachers Pay Teachers, simply browse through my doodles or clip art illustrations and decide on your favourite! Then come back here and leave a comment in the Rafflecopter box below letting me know which set you like the best. Maybe superheroes are your thing, or perhaps you’re more of a pirate fan or maybe you dream of lazy days soaking up the sun on a tropical beach – just pick your favourite pack and let me know!

10th Anniversary Gift Certificate giveaway from Kate Hadfield Designs

First of all, CONGRATS on 10 years! ๐Ÿ™‚ Secondly, I’d love a (school) music pack, like for band and orchestra. School concert (like a little “cafetorium,” as my DD’s school calls their stage that’s adjacent to the gym, or an actual cute little concert stage); instruments (PLEASE include a saxophone); music notes and/or bass and treble clefs; music stand; maybe sheet music (as an overlay or as a doodled element); washi tape; band director; and, of course, the students. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have an elementary-age child, but older kids or events (marching band, etc), would be cool too. ๐Ÿ™‚

So many great ideas here already! My idea is for a Russia set, because it’s where I live, and although it gets a lot of bad press, it’s a beautiful country and a lovely place to live. Some suggestions for things to include: Russian flag, people in national costume, accordian, ‘ushanka’ (fur hat with ear flaps), ‘valenki’ (big felt boots, often decorated), ‘kokoshnik’ (traditional hat for ladies, which looks a bit like a crown), ‘platok’ (decorated shawl), amber jewellery, matryoshka dolls, church with onion domes, St Basil’s Cathedral, Winter Palace, Spasskaya Tower, Yuri Gagarin Monument, astronaut, rocket, Cheburashka and Gena the Crocodile, ‘izba’ (colourful, traditional wooden house), Lada (car), vodka, borsch, pickled cucumbers, baskets of mushrooms and berries, watermelon, ‘shashlik’ (meat kebabs) on a BBQ, pancakes, fireworks, snowflakes, ice skates, cross country skis, mittens…

Something to use with layouts that are out and about with shops, awnings, flower boxes, lamp post, a traffic signal, wrought iron fence, park bench, car park meter, fountain, street cart (flowers/fruit), a statue (?) and all the things you might see at your local town square. I would love a kit comprising of different types of Corgis. My beloved fluffy Pembroke Corgi died last year and I can find no clip art of fluffies anywhere. My daughter now owns a fluffy Cardigan Corgi – a blue merle and he’s adorable. His colouring is so unusual. So there could be plenty of inspiration not only Pembroke and Cardigan Corgis, but also the fluffy versions too! I mean, anything would be great. However, it would be awesome to have a set of historical clip art. You did such a great job on the British things. I would love one where it is a theme – Renaissance, Middle Ages, etc or even one that throughout time periods – like people in period costumes. Geography/cultural sets would be neat, too. Say a series of continent packs that focus more on cultural items from countries on the continents.

I need stage theater stuff for scrapping my daughters’ plays and other dramatic pursuits. Things like stage curtains, the stage, audience, costumes, lights, musical notes, . . . I wrote a thread about this at The Lilypad. In case my comment isn’t posting because I was trying to include a link I’ll describe the post so you can find it. My TLP name is michelepixels and I posted the thread titled “Designers: I have a request – theater” on Dec. 11, 2016.
