Betsy’s Stay Cozy bundled up penguin card

by Betsy Birge

Hello everyone!  Winter is here and it’s time to keep warm.  I’ve made a card project today using the Bundled Up Stamp Set.  So cute and so easy! Let me show you how I made my card!

I decided to take the colors from the background paper for the scarf on the penguin.  I printed out the penguin and the sentiment onto white card stock.  I used a cute winter font for the sentiment. I also chose the 3 papers that I would be using.  They were all from the same paper pad.  I also used a die from my stash to die cut the star banner from glitter card stock.

I started the coloring with the scarf to coordinate with the patterned paper.

I think the penguin came out super sweet!  For the darker body of the penguin I used a BV blend of markers – one that I had not used before.  It looks gray, but it’s actually Blue Violet.  I love how it came out and I’ll be using that blend for all my penguins going forward…colors are listed below.  Once the coloring was done, I fussy cut the penguin leaving a narrow white border.

I cut all of the background papers.  The darker blue panel in the back is 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”.  The 2-tone panel is 3 1/2″” x 4 ¾”.  The smaller darker blue panel was a die from a nesting set that is actually rounded on the top and bottom.  And the center strip is 2” x 5 ½”.

I adhered everything flat except the penguin and the sentiment which I backed with a piece of the darker blue paper.  I adhered the star swag across the top and then added small clay snowflakes.  I added sparkle to the scarf using a silver glitter gel pen and I used a white gel pen for highlights.  And  that finished this adorable card!

There are lots of images in the Bundled Up stamp set and there is also a bear and 3 different snowmen that could be swapped out for the penguin.  Tag us with your creations!  We love to see how we inspire you!

Til next time…
