Swinging Sloth card tutorial

Hello everyone! I hope everyone’s spring is warming up and you have flowers popping up through the ground everywhere! For today’s project I’ll be using the new digital set – Animal Pals: Sloths. These are so adorable! Let me show you how I made my card.

This was a project where I had to make some decisions before doing anything! That’s not always the case with me, but this card definitely took some forethought. I printed out my sloth image first along with the sentiment. I sized them for an A2 (4.25″ x 5.5″) size card.

I then chose my papers. I used papers from the same pad so the colors would coordinate well. I covered a white top folding A2 size card with the lighter green and then die cut a smaller frame from a darker patterned paper. I made sure before die cutting that the sloth would fill in the space of the smaller frame.

Next, I started coloring my sloth. I used sort of a circular motion while coloring to give the sloth some texture on his fur.

I used Earth Brown and Dull Green Spectrum Noir markers and warm gray Copic markers. I then fussy cut the sloth image out and when done went around the edges with a black marker.

I die cut my sentiment with a sentiment die. After it was cut I colored it with the lightest green marker that I used.

I adhered the sentiment to the bottom edge of the frame and the sloth to the upper part. I tucked in the right side and overlapped the left side. Then I adhered this to the base using foam tape.

Try as I might, I could not find any embellishments that looked right! So, I printed out one of the leaves in the stamp set 7 times onto lime green paper.

I ink blended on the base of them using some darker green ink. I then fussy cut these. They were a little less than one inch long. And tucked them into the frame in the upper right corner and on both ends of the sentiment. And that finished my sweet sloth card!
