Hello everyone. I hope you’re all well.
Here in the UK, we have already celebrated Mother’s Day back in March. However, internationally, it is held on different days, such as the second Sunday in May for the USA and Australia and many others countries. Some do not actually celebrate ‘Mother’s Day’, but rather they just celebrate women. Personally, I am all for that!
For my Mother’s Day card, I chose to use some of the flowers from ‘Art Joodles Mixed Bag 3‘. Typically, I am a colourist and would choose an image I could colour. However, I really appreciated the colour pallette Kate had already used in these and the hard work had been done!

I used to shy away from Digi stamps. I considered them ‘hard work’ or ‘temperamental’ or even ‘not for the tech inexperienced’. However, I was doing it all wrong and using the wrong apps. Then, I discovered all you need is good old fashioned ‘Word’. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there’s others out there, and yes, perhaps more suited to the ‘tech experienced’. For me though, Word is no frills and straightforward.
I’m going to show you how I made this simple but beautiful card, made by me, a technophobe!
Let’s get to it…
In Word, I open up the ‘Draw’ feature and found my first image that I’d already downloaded from the ‘Art Joodles Mixed Bag 3’ collection by clicking on the ‘picture’ button. One at a time, I added an image, resized it, repositioned it and arranged the images in the desired composition using the ‘send to back/bring to front’ feature.

Once I was happy with the layout, I hit ‘save and close’ . This placed the image in its entirety onto a documents. Once on the document, I could resize as a ‘block’ (I know there’s a more technical term for this but I’m a novice!) to my heart’s desire. (Typically for me, I work in A6 UK card size, and so I size with this in mind.)

Under my image, I typed in my desired sentiment, leaving enough space for my image to be trimmed down to an A6 size.

I then trimmed my image down to approx 5mm smaller round each edge than my A6 card blank.

However, at this stage, I decided I was actually going to fussy cut round the image and place it over an ink blended background. So, I got to cutting!

I cut down another plain white piece of card to approx 5mm smaller round each edge than my A6 card blank. I went in from the right corner and blended some Ripe Persimmon Distress Oxide. I made the mistake of not using Super Smooth card so the blend is poor. However, much of it was to be covered by my image so I wasn’t concerned. All I wanted was a soft glow around the image.

I adhered this panel to my card blank using foam tape. I then adhered my image using wet adhesive. Finally, I trimmed my sentiment and adhered this using foam tape. I do love me some dimension!
To finish, I added some clear flat back cabochons. These are a craft Stash must have for me!
This was a really simple card to make but I really do love the outcome of it. I think the sentiment can be swapped out for many an occasion – birthday, thanks etc…

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and I hope to see you again soon.
Until next time, take care.
Love, Dani xx
