Sasha’s Safe Travels vacation card

by Sasha

Hello everyone! Sasha here. Today, I’m sharing some handmade card inspiration perfect for the summer travel season. For this card, I am using an airplane stamp from the On Our Travels Digital Stamp Set. The background will feature an easy-to-create sky scene to help set the mood.

I started by uploading the airplane image into Cricut Design Space, planning my card design and sizing the image to fit nicely on a US A2-sized card, which measures 4.25” by 5.5”. While in Design Space, I also created a simple sentiment that reads “Safe Travels!” Once everything was ready, I printed out the image and sentiment onto 100lb Hammermill Cardstock – my go-to paper for colouring with alcohol markers.

To colour the images, I used the following Ohuhu alcohol markers:

  • Greys: CG070, CG050, CG030, CG020
  • Reds: R8, R2, R3, R1
  • Blue: B050
  • Yellows: Y070, Y040

I also added some highlights to the airplane using a white gel pen. I don’t always add white accents, but it’s a fun and simple way to make the image pop and give it a more polished finish.

For the background, I used a cloud stencil and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink to ink-blend a soft blue sky, perfect for the airplane to fly through!

To assemble the card, I used liquid adhesive to glue the airplane and sentiment onto the ink-blended background, keeping the layout simple so the airplane could be the star of the sky!

And there you have it! A quick yet fun card that’s perfect for sending someone a warm send-off! I love how easy this design came together, and I hope it inspires you to make your own travel-themed cards this summer!

Thanks for reading. See you next time!
