Sasha’s Over The Moon astronaut card

by Sasha

Hello everyone! Sasha here. I love making space-themed cards, so today, I’m sharing some inspiration using the Blast Off Digital Stamp Set!

handmade space themed greetings card with colourful astronaut against a green galaxy background

I started by uploading an astronaut image into Cricut Design Space, sizing it to fit a US A2-sized card, printing it on 100lb Hammermill cardstock, and cutting it with my Cricut Cutting Machine.

I used the following Ohuhu alcohol markers to colour the images:

  • Greens: G470, G190, G170, G130
  • Greys: CGII04, CGII0

To create the space-themed background, I placed a circular stencil on my card background using tape and began ink blending. I am using the Moon stencil from Tim Holtz to create an ink-blended moon. You can also use the moon image from the Blast Off Digital Stamp Set to colour your own! Since I am creating a green galaxy, I used two green inks and one black ink. For this, I used Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks.

I started at the top of the card with Black Soot, blending into Mowed Lawn, and lastly Twisted Citron to create the perfect green space gradient! Once the background was fully inked, I removed the circular moon stencil and ink-blended the rest of my moon using the same trio of Distress Oxides inks.

I also splattered the background with bleed-proof white paint to make it look more like outer space!

For the sentiment, I stamped a space-themed sentiment from a stamp set that I have that I thought fit the theme perfectly!

Once I was done with the background, I used liquid adhesive glue to adhere the image and sentiment onto the card. I used scissors to trim off the excess overhanging the card.

And that’s it! A perfect outer space card fit for any occasion!

Thanks for reading. See you next time!
