With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I wanted to share with you some new projects using my Colour In Valentines! Last year my daughter and I used them to make some simple party favours, this year we’ve upped the ante by using the same printables to make some Valentine’s cards, lunch box notes and gift tags!

To get started, we printed the valentines onto some heavy white cardstock and got busy with our colouring pencils! You can use any art materials you like to colour the printables: crayons would work well for younger crafters or marker pens would create a more colourful, bolder look.

Once we had coloured and cut out our punny valentines we were ready to put them to use! Here are some ideas for how to use them:
Valentine’s Cards
For a quick and easy handmade Valentine’s card simply stick one of the coloured valentines onto a coordinating piece of folded card, or card blank. You can add the recipient’s name to the front or save that for the message inside the card. I always think a project like this is such a lovely way of sharing your child’s artwork (I still have a box full of hand-made cards from when my kids were younger!)

Valentine’s Lunchbox notes
I feel a bit of a fraud referring to this as a craft when all that is needed here is to put a coloured valentine into a lunchbox! They make fun little surprises for kids at school on Valentine’s Day or a more romantic gesture for a special someone, especially with a secret message written on the back.

Valentine’s Gift Tags
I originally drew the “Wild About You” lion valentine as a gift tag (before getting carried away and drawing several more designs to make a full set!) so it seemed fitting to make some more gift tags! The printables are perfect for making making tags for class gifts and party favours along with more special, individual Valentine’s presents. Attach them to your gifts with decorative tape or heart shaped stickers for an extra bit of pizazz!

I hope this has given you some ideas on how you and your kids can use these fun little printables, have fun and Happy Valentine’s Day!
