New Baby laundry card tutorial

by Dani B

Hello crafter’s. How are we all?

Babies aren’t a seasonal occasion and the news of an imminent new arrival can often just spring up on us. Therefore, it’s handy to have a few baby cards tucked away in your stash so you don’t get caught short! Kate Hadfield has a wonderful variety of baby stamps, coloured and non coloured, for many baby celebrations – neutral, boy, girl and more. Kate has you covered.

I’ll talk you through how I made this card for a baby boy, using Kate’s Bouncing Baby Boy Stamps. First I arranged all my digi stamps on my word document to fit the front of a UK A6 card blank. I left the centre blank for a sentiment. I also typed up a fitting sentiment separately to fit in the space.

I coloured all images in a blue theme with my Copic markers, in shades B01, B04 and B14. Any alcohol markers will suffice. I coloured the bottle additionally with W00, W0, W3 and W4. Also, E000.

I now cut out my sentiment with a round Scalloped die, small enough to fit in the allocated space. This just about fit – phew!

To give the card some dimension, I’ll be raising the image using craft foam, so I went ahead and trimmed a piece of white foam approx 2mm smaller round each edge than my image. I popped this aside for later.

Now I added a subtle shade of blue around the image and the sentiment, using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide.

I went over the images, adding white Gelly Roll pen for highlight. I also used the same pen for all of the buttons on the clothing and some of the collars and cuffs.

Now, I used wet adhesive to adhere my image to the craft foam and then adhered this to my blue top fold UK A6 card blank using wet adhesive also.

Finally, I used foam tape to adhere the sentiment to the centre of the card.

This is the card complete!

This style would be as effective for baby girls and neutral alike by simply changing the pen colours used to colour, the ink used for the edges and the colour of the card blank.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Until next time, take care.

Lots of love, Dani xx

About Dani B

Hello, I’m Dani (short for Danielle). I’m a stay at home mum due to many a health issue and been crafting to cure the boredom for around 15 years. I dare say I have a crafting style as my style is forever evolving but I LOVE clean and simple and struggle with (although very much admire) mixed media. My favourite technique is probably colouring with my alcohol markers!
