Halloween ‘Spooky Witch’ treat bag toppers

by Sasha

Hello everyone! Sasha here. Now that it’s October, and with Halloween being right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start preparing for some Halloween fun! Today, I’m sharing how I created these super easy treat bags featuring the Spooky Toppers Digital Stamps. These treat bags can be made using any digital stamps, but I especially love the way it looks like the spooky witch is peeking over the bags full of candy!

I started by first uploading my desired digital stamps to Cricut Design Space. Cricut Design Space is my software of choice when sizing, printing, and cutting digital stamps, but feel free to do this in whatever way you are most familiar with!

Once the stamps were uploaded, I then used the offset tool to offset the images to create a thick, white border around each stamp and added a simple rectangle shape at the top of each image from the shapes menu. While this may look odd now, this rectangle will act as the base of the topper, the side that will be folded onto the back of the treat bag. As for sizing, be sure to size your treat bag toppers according to the size of the bag they will be going on; this will vary for everyone, so make sure you measure! I then flattened everything together to prepare for printing!

Once I was ready, I printed the treat bag toppers onto appropriate cardstock/paper. If your treat bag toppers are being coloured using materials such as crayons, pencil crayons, or certain types of markers, basic photocopy/printer paper should work perfectly! However, cardstock can be used to create a sturdier topper. I then cut the toppers using my Cricut cutting machine.

Now that the toppers have been printed and cut out, we can move on to colouring! I coloured one topper using crayons and the other topper using my personal favourite colouring medium, alcohol markers. For this step, you can use whatever colouring medium you would like! The possibilities are endless, and this is the perfect time to have some fun with it!

To finish off these treat bags, I folded over the top rectangle shape, filled my treat bags with some delicious Halloween candy, and adhered the toppers to the top of the bags. I used tape to do this, but you can use whatever works best for you!

And those are the completed treat bag toppers!

Whether you’re putting together treat bags for school, work, or your annual Halloween party, making your own custom treat bag toppers is the perfect way to add a personalized – and spooky! – touch on any treat bags you make this Halloween season!

Thanks for reading. See you next time!
