Good Things Take Time handmade card tutorial

Hello everyone! Sasha here, and today I’m sharing with you yet another spring-themed card (I love spring!) featuring the Garden Grown digital stamp set.

As always, I start my project by first planning my card digitally using Cricut Design Space. Since I use the Print and Cut feature that Cricut offers, it is easiest for me to visualize my card here. Once I have settled on my design, I print out my image (and a sentiment to match!) and cut them out using my Cricut machine. The image is printed on 100lb Hammermill cardstock – my personal favourite cardstock when it comes to colouring with alcohol markers!

Here’s a tip! Since the image has a noticeable white edge once it has been cut out, I like to take a black marker and run it around the edges to help hide this edge. You can use any marker for this! Here, I’m using a general art marker.

To colour the image, I used the following Ohuhu alcohol markers: Greens: GY1, GY2, GY6, GY7, GY42 Browns: E220, E240, E310, E370

Along with the alcohol markers, I also coloured the image using Prismacolor Premier Coloured Pencils. Since I got these pencils several months back, I have been loving them for adding more depth to my colouring. I used the following coloured pencils to finish colouring the image:

Greens: Dark Green – PC 908, Prussian Green – PC 109, Apple Green – PC 912, Spring Green – PC 913, Chartreuse – PC 989

Browns: Dark Brown – PC 946, Chocolate – PC 1082, Light Umber – PC 941

Now that the image is all coloured let’s create the background!

I kept the background pretty simple for this card as I wanted to make sure the little plant really stood out. Using brown ink—I used Scorched Timber and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxides—I ink-blended a brown gradient at the bottom of a US A2-sized card base to resemble dirt.
