Floral Winter Wishes card tutorial

by Betsy Birge

Hello everyone!  Now that we’re in the depths of winter it’s a great time to create with floral stamps.  Florals are happy and uplifting!  Today I’m creating with the Winter Flora digital stamp set using a winter palette!

I first created my composition in the computer and printed it out onto white card stock.

Next I started coloring matching the colors I found in a winter floral palette on Google Images.  This is really a foolproof way to choose colors.  I used the following Copic markers for my coloring of this image: B21, B41, R00, R02, C3, Y21, Blender

Next I chose my background paper which is a light slate blue.  It looked so nice with the florals.  And the random dot pattern on it resembles snow!  I cut a piece of that to 4 1/8” x 5 3/8” and adhered it to an A2 size white card base.

I fussy cut my colored image and added a stamped sentiment to the card base.  I stamped it with a silver metallic pigment ink first and it didn’t really show up, so I stamped it again with a black pigment ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I adhered the fussy cut floral image with foam tape and then added some Frosted Lace Stickles to the berries, tops of the edges of the flower petals and tops of the leaves and pine cones.  As a last bit of embellishment I added some snowflake sequins adding a touch of the Stickles in each of the centers.

This card could be used for lots of occasions throughout the winter…it would be a really nice card for a winter wedding!

I hope I’ve inspired you to create something happy and uplifting today!
