Eggheads and Colour In Eggheads

22 March 2013 by Kate

After being asked recently for some child-friendly Easter themed printables, I put my thinking cap on and came up with these little Egghead egg wraps! Available in both pre-coloured and colour-in versions, each pack contains five egg wraps to print and turn your decorated eggs into cute Easter characters!

The packs include two bunny wraps, two chick wraps and one Easter basket wrap – perfect for showing off your favourite decorated egg! This is such an easy Easter craft to make, simply print the wraps onto a heavy weight paper or light cardstock, colour in using your choice of art materials (if using the colour-in version!) and then cut out the different pieces.

Assembly is very simple – fold the bunny and chick feet up and then wrap the strip around your egg to create a snug fit to keep your egg safe and secure. Fasten the wrap together with tape or glue to create the base of your Easter egg character. Then adhere the basket handle to your basket wrap, and stick the bunny ears to the back of your eggs to complete your Easter bunny egg!

To create the chicks I used yellow plastic eggs and drew the eyes on with marker pen. For the beaks I added triangles of orange coloured paper, stuck on with a dab of glue.

To create the bunnies I used slightly larger wooden eggs (the wraps can fit a variety of different sized eggs) and added the faces with marker pen and their little noses with pink paint pen.

Although I’ve used plastic and wooden eggs here, you could use any type of egg you fancy for this craft (polystyrene, craft eggs, dyed hard-boiled eggs or blown eggs for example!). You can draw or paint the faces on your eggs as I have done here, or use adhesive googly-eyes or coloured paper pieces to create the facial expressions.

My kids are going to dye some eggs and make their own versions of these characters this weekend. I think we might really go to town and add some feathers to the chicks and little pom-pom tails for the bunnies!
