‘Tis The Season Monster Christmas card tutorial

by Sasha

Hello everyone! Sasha here. Now that we are into November, I officially have Christmas on the brain! The Christmas season is my favourite time of the year, so I always get started on some fun Christmas crafting – and Christmas cardmaking! – as soon as I can! Today, I’m sharing how I used Kate’s Monsterific Christmas Digital Stamps to create a simple Christmas card that is easy to mass-produce with an easy background!

I started by uploading my chosen image into Cricut Design Space. Cricut Design Space is my program of choice when it comes to sizing, printing, and cutting digital images for cards, but feel free to use whatever software you are most comfortable with!

I then sized the monster image to fit nicely on a US, A2-sized card and typed out a festive sentiment so that I could print that out as well! I decided to go with the sentiment “’Tis the Season!”

Once I was ready, I printed the image onto 100lb Hammermill Cardstock and cut it using my Cricut cutting machine. From there, I could then colour the image! I decided to go with a classic red and green colour combination – it’s one of my favourites and definitely my go-to colour combination for the holiday season! I used the following Ohuhu alcohol markers to colour the monster:

Red: R7, R8, R2, R3, R1

Green: G7, G470, G190, G170, G130

Grey: NGO6, CG070, CG050, CG030, CG020

After using the alcohol markers, I also used a couple of Prismacolor Premier Coloured Pencils to further blend the colours together. Since alcohol markers and coloured pencils are my favourite mediums when it comes to colouring, these are what I use, but feel free to use your favourite colouring medium or even have some fun and experiment with your colouring!

To create a simple, matching, splattered background, I placed some green and red paints onto my glass matt work surface, sprayed them with water from a spray bottle, and splattered the paint directly onto a card base using a fan brush.

Once the background was dry, I then used liquid adhesive to glue the monster and sentiment onto the card.

And that’s the completed card!

Whether you are an early or last-minute kind of Christmas crafter, these cards are so fun and easy to do, you will have your holiday cards done in no time flat!

Thanks for reading. See you next time!
