Sasha’s Hello Fall squirrel card

by Sasha

Hello everyone! Sasha here. Fall is in the air! Today, I’m sharing some fall crafty inspiration with a card I created using the Fantabulous Fall Digital Stamp Set.

I started by uploading the adorable squirrel image into Cricut Design Space. From here, I sized my image to fit on a US A2-sized card. I printed the image onto 100lb Hammermill cardstock, my favourite alcohol marker-friendly cardstock, and cut it using my Cricut Cutting Machine.

To colour the image, I used the following Ohuhu alcohol markers:

  • Orange: YR180, YR3, Y10, YR4
  • Brown: E310, E370, E240, E220

I created a simple background by ink-blending some orange ink, using Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide, at the top of my card base, gradually fading to white, to create an easy, one-colour gradient. I followed the same process with my “Hello Fall” die-cut sentiment.

I also decided to splatter the background of my card, because you can never go wrong with a bit of splatter! For the splatter, I sprayed a little bit of white paint with water and splattered it directly onto my card using a fan brush.

Now, to make the card feel more like fall, I decided to add a piece of twine ribbon spanning the background of the card. I don’t often add ribbon or twine to my card projects, but I do always love the way it looks!

To prevent the twine from fraying, I applied a small amount of liquid glue to the edge of the twine and smoothed it out with my finger. The glue dries clear, ensuring your twine will not fray or come undone.

To finish off the card, I used liquid adhesive to glue down the “hello fall” sentiment and the squirrel image onto the card. And that’s the finished card project!

Crafting during the fall and winter seasons is always one of my favourite times of the year to craft. I can’t wait to share some more seasonal crafting inspiration!

Thanks for reading! See you next time!
