Sasha’s Heart Shaped Valentine’s card

by Sasha

Hello everyone! Sasha here. Today, I’m sharing how I created a heart-shaped card featuring an adorable bear from the Loved Up Digital Stamp Set!

I started by uploading the bear image into Cricut Design Space and sizing it to fit my card. In Cricut Design Space, I also uploaded a heart image to act as the base for my card. You will need two hearts to create the heart-shaped card. Once everything was sized, I printed out the bear onto alcohol marker-friendly cardstock and cut both the bear and hearts using my Cricut cutting machine.

To colour the bear image, I used the following Ohuhu alcohol markers:

  • Red: R8, R2, R3, R1
  • Brown: E310, E370, E240, E220

To create the heart-shaped card base, I scored one of the hearts approximately 1″ from the top and folded along the score line.

Then I added liquid glue to the folded tabs and placed the second heart on top, making sure to align the two to create the heart-shaped card.

For the background of my card, I ink-blended a simple gradient using red ink. I used Candied Apple Distress Oxide ink.

I also splattered the background with a bleed-proof white paint, just to add a bit more interest!

To finish off the card, I used liquid adhesive to glue the bear and add a “Happy Valentine’s Day” sentiment. I used scissors to trim the excess bear image overhanging the card. And that’s the completed card! Although I don’t make different-shaped cards often, they’re always among my favourite cards to make!

Thanks for reading. See you next time!
