Sasha’s Get Well Soon card

by Sasha

Hello everyone! It’s that time of the year when many are getting sick! However, a little crafty, handmade cheer can go a long way. So let’s make a get well soon card to give to those in your life who are currently a little under the weather (from a distance, of course). To make this card, I used multiple images from two different sets: the Bruises and Breaks Digital Stamp Set and the Doctor Doctor Digital Stamp Set.

I first uploaded several images from both stamp sets into Cricut Design Space. Then, I sized the images accordingly, using a default shape element from Design Space to act as the card front (in this case, a US A2-sized card) for sizing purposes. I also used this process to help design the layout of the card, which I could then reference when it came time to glue everything together.

For this design, I decided to have the main sentiment, “Get Well Soon!” (which I created using Cricut Design Space), in a big, bold font in the centre of the card and all of the images surrounding it, creating a fun pattern.

Once I had the images sized, I printed the images, cut them using my Cricut cutting machine, and got ready to do some colouring! When it comes to colouring, I enjoy experimenting with fun, non-traditional colour schemes. However, for this card, I opted for more conventional colours because I wanted the final card to be vibrant and full of life. To colour the images, I used the following Ohuhu alcohol marker colours:

  • Red: R2
  • Yellow: Y2, Y1
  • Blue: B070
  • Greens: G470, G190, G170, G130
  • Browns: E160
  • Greys: CG070, CG050, CG030, CG020

Now it’s time to attach everything to the card base! Referring back to the layout I created in Cricut Design Space, I arranged all the elements on my card and then used liquid adhesive to secure them in place.

For the sentiment, I applied some foam tape to elevate it off the card, adding a bit of depth to the final project.

To finish off the card, I trimmed the images overhanging the edges of the card. And there you have it! That’s the completed card project!

This cheerful handmade card is a simple yet thoughtful way to brighten someone’s day when they’re feeling under the weather. I know I would be incredibly happy to receive such a card!

Thanks for reading! See you next time!
