Happy Camper card tutorial

Hello everyone! So glad you’re here! Today I’ll be sharing how to make this super fun camping card using the Summer Camp Stamps! This was lots of fun to make and, if you are a camper, even more fun!

To start, I planned out and placed my elements in the computer. No special programs here, I just use Word.

It wasn’t until I was done composing my design, that I realized I was going to have to make a slimline card! I haven’t made one in forever and since I was making a scene card – it made a lot of sense. I had planned on using alcohol markers for this as there was quite a bit of coloring to be done!

I moved along my scene with the coloring. I used a mix of Copic markers and Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend markers.

I saved coloring the sign boards for last, as they could be any color and I knew I would want to tie it in with the rest of the scene.

Before adding the grass and sky I checked over my coloring to make sure I had brought it to the depth I wanted.

I decided to stencil the sky using a pale blue ink, an ink pouncer, and a cloud stencil.

I really liked how this came out and the ink color I chose to use. Next, on to the grass. Again I used an ink pouncer, this time with some green ink. Although this part of the process came out really blotchy, I knew that as I added layers with my markers that it would disappear.

I added about 3 layers of marker for the grass, then I went in with a bit of a darker green and added shadows on the grass. Next I moved onto my card base.

I really wanted to match the blue ink I used for the sky and I did find one piece of cardstock in my stash. I covered the entire front of the card with this card stock. My card measures 3 ½” x 8”. I trimmed down my colored panel to 3 ¼” x 7 ¾”. I adhered this to the front of the card and that finished my project!
