Hello everyone! Sasha here. Today, I wanted to share one of my new favourite ways (that I have used in several of my other projects now!) to create a quick and easy outdoor background using alcohol markers! I’m using a couple of images from the Garden Grown Digital Stamp Set to create the perfect outdoor scene for this card with minimal effort!

I started by planning my card in Cricut Design Space and then using the Print Then Cut feature to prepare my images for colouring. For this project, I decided to go with the gnome and garden sentiment images. For the paper I used, I printed them onto 100lb Hammermill cardstock, my personal favourite when it comes to colouring with alcohol markers.

To colour the images themselves, I used the following Ohuhu alcohol marker colour combinations to colour the gnome:
Hat: R7, R8, R2, R3, R1
Overalls: B290, B270, B260, B250, B220
Shirt: G190, G170, G140, G130
Boots: NG06, CG070, CG050
Beard: CG5, CG2, CGII00
Skin: R20, R19, R18
And this colour combination to colour the sentiment: G190, G170, G140, G130

I also used Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils to add more shading and texture to the images. Here’s a quick tip! Using coloured pencils is a great way to add simple yet effective texture to your coloured images, especially when it comes to clothing, hair, or fur, such as the denim texture of the blue overalls!

Now, let’s create the background!
To create the background, I first started by making the grassy field. To do this, I took the same green Ohuhu alcohol marker colour combination used earlier (G190, G170, G140, G130) and created simple blades of grass by flicking up from the bottom of a US-A2-sized card front. I alternated between all four shades of green to achieve a varied and colourful grassy scene.

Once happy with the grass, I created a sky with ink-blending blue ink at the top of my card front. For this, I used Salty Ocean Distress Oxide. To finish my scene, I also decided to splatter some white paint because you can never go wrong with a little bit of splatter and mess when crafting!

To finish the card, I used liquid adhesive to glue the gnome and sentiment to the card front and the card front to a card base.

I love creating fun and simple outdoors backgrounds such as this one, it’s such an easy way to help create a scene as well as add some colour to your projects. I definitely recommend trying it out!
Thanks for reading. See you next time!
