Autumn is Calling handmade card tutorial

I love fall and the cooler days and nights. So I wanted to create a card that invokes that feeling of coziness and contentment that is so essentially autumn. For this project I chose the Sweater Weather digital stamp set!

I decided to paper-piece this project since it was relatively simple. I consider the background to be 2 pieces…one for the wall and one for the wooden surface. I first stamped it on the light peach paper and then stamped it again onto the wooden slat surface. When I started this process I printed the entire image out onto a piece of copy paper. When I wanted to print out the blanket I taped (carefully) the piece of patterned paper over the part that needed to be printed and sent the same sheet through the printer again. I did this for all the parts with the paper-piecing.

I started by printing the entire image onto the 2 background pieces. On the peach paper I printed the entire image. Then printed the wood part.

I started with the blanket. I used a piece of mono plaid paper and angled the paper.

Then I moved onto the book. I was actually printing each part in backwards order.

I printed out the details on the mug and book.

The book details were tinting the bookmark green (I had printed it the same color as the blanket) and I added a bit of shading with a light warm gray Copic marker at the base of the pages.

On the mug I had used a rather light colored patterned paper and I used the same green as for the bookmark and scribbled in color. I shaded the top part of the mug with warm gray 1 and 3. I also chose a Copic marker color the same color as my background to fill in between the mug handle and cup. I felt that the sentiment was really not visible as I had originally printed it, so I used a scrap of the wood paper and printed it on a lighter part and then fussy cut it. I added a bit of color with a light grey ink in the background and a baroque stamp from my stash. I added a tiny bit of gold detail by dotting the white parts on the book spine and the tea bag. I adhered the panel to another panel of a caramel brown card stock and then used a peach base for this A2 size card. I popped up the new sentiment on foam tape and then I added tiny leaf sequins throughout!
