Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! I hope you are having a wonderful day with your nearest and dearest. As a Brit, I have always been intrigued by Thanksgiving celebrations, so I asked my team to share their favourite Thanksgiving traditions and scrapbook layouts! I hope that you enjoy them too and that they inspire you to record your own Thanksgiving memories!
“Last year my parents sold my childhood home. This was the last of 30 Thanksgivings we had in the house! It was a happy Thanksgiving, but it makes me sad just to think about it! Kate’s doodles, as usual, were perfect for this celebration. I also really like this page because of the shadowing. With Kate’s doodles, it’s possible to create a layered look. I used some doodles without shadows to look like they are drawn on the background paper!”
“My favorite so far are these fun Thanksgiving outfits I made for Lizbit, my daughter’s paper doll. I love the bright colors and the hands on joy for the holiday season.”
“This is my favorite thing and constant regarding Thanksgiving. Now that my Dad is gone and we (hubby & I) don’t really do anything for Thanksgiving, one thing I still make every year regardless, is the Pumpkin Pie from scratch, in my Mom’s 18 inch Pie dish. The only things Mom ever made in this was Pumpkin Pie and Baked Mac & Cheese. It is that old German glazed pie dish and was from her Grandmother, so the pie dish is a family heirloom. I cherish this pie plate and smile every year when I bring it out and make Pumpkin Pie.”
“I don’t always get photos at Thanksgiving, but for my son’s FIRST Thanksgiving, I KNEW I had to snap some family photos. I’m so glad I did! I’ve tried to take at least some photos of Thanksgiving every year since then so we can enjoy the memories for many years to come.”
“My favorite Thanksgiving layout up to this point is this one with my sweet kiddos showing off their preschool headpieces They were so young! What a gift scrapbooking is for preserving these special memories.”
“I love having our “adopted” college kids together at the same time. Invariably, it ends up being a fantastic (if exhausting!) evening. Thanksgiving is always a special time, with (way too much) food, games (Apples to Apples has become a favorite) and a general feeling of family that they carry with them even after they graduate.
This layout is sooooooo far outside of my comfort range. I don’t like hiding my pictures. Only occasionally will I have so many layers. And giant focal points only show up in my layouts once in awhile. I’m still deciding whether I like it or not, but I’m proud of myself for trying something different.”
“I really enjoy Thanksgiving, and I took a few moments to document how our family celebrates. I really enjoy the family time… and the pies!”
