Sasha's Lucky St Patrick's Day handmade card tutorial

Hello everyone! Since green is my favourite colour, I’ve always loved making St. Patrick’s Day-themed crafts as it gives me an excuse to go nuts with green! And what better way to spread a little luck and cheer than with a handmade card? Today, I’m sharing how I made this lucky card featuring the Luck of the Irish Digital Stamp Set.

I began by uploading some images from the stamp set into Cricut Design Space. For this step, you can also use word processing software such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs. To help with sizing, I created a rectangle shape to represent my card base (I used a standard US A2-sized card) and arranged the images to fit my layout. For this card, I will be using the shamrock image as a stencil, so I sized the image to be larger, taking up the entire background of the card. Once I was happy with the design, I printed the images onto 100lb Hammermill cardstock and cut them using my Cricut cutting machine.

Once the images were cut out, I used the following Ohuhu alcohol markers to colour the leprechaun and sentiment:

Pink (skin): R21, R20, R19, R18
Orange: Y10, Y4
Yellow: Y2, Y1, Y3, Y121
Green: G7, G470, G190, G170, G130
Grey/Black: NG09, NG07, NG06, CG070, CG050

To make the background, I used tape to adhere the giant shamrock image to my US A2-sized card base. I then ink-blended the background using a blending brush and two shades of green ink – dark and light green – to create a simple green gradient background. I used the darker green ink around the edges of the card and the lighter green ink in the centre of the card, making sure to overlap the two shades of green ink using the blending brush to create a smooth gradient. The two inks I used for this were Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide.

I also splattered some gold acrylic paint using a fan brush for the background. Once the paint had dried, I could carefully remove the shamrock image and finish things.
