“Hello! I’m Sara, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kate over the past couple of years making printable goodies for her store, with lots & lots of her gorgeous doodles 🙂
Recently, Kate asked if I would like to put together a series of hybrid tutorials to share with you via her blog – and of course I said yes! I thought I’d start with something sweet and simple: a pillow box. I think most of you will be familiar with pillow boxes, so I figured this would be the ideal starting point to tempt you all to try your hand at making something hybrid!
Hybrid isn’t something to worry about – really, really! It literally means taking the digital goodies from your hard drive, printing them out & making something with them, whether a card, calendar or box.
I promise that you’ll only need the very basic of tools too:
- your printer
- adhesive (I use double sided craft tape in this tutorial)
- something to cut out with (scissors or a craft blade – I tend to use both)
- something to score/ crease & fold with (a score board would be lovely, but even a butter knife & ruler will do the trick)
- maybe some ribbon or other pretty embellishment if you wish
At the end of this post, you’ll find a link to a download, which includes this how-to-make, the 12x12in paper I made with Kate’s designs plus a ready-to-print pillow box, which will look something like this when assembled:
It’s BYOC time again, my favourite time of the month! This time I just have one doodle pack, full of little lovey-dovey bits and bobs to add a touch of hand-drawn fun to your pages and projects. These Lovey Dovey Doodads are new in store today and 20% off all weekend (check out the buy more, save more deals for more savings on the BYOC collections).
You might remember Katy’s amazing Baseball birthday party that I featured here last summer, today I want to share another themed birthday party that Katy created using my digital products! Here are some photos of the space themed party she created using my Blast Off! kit for 4 year old twin boys Alex and Eiljah. I think this is such a great theme for little boys! (And big ones too!) Here’s the invitation:
The cake (isn’t this amazing?!):
Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful time with your nearest and dearest over the festive period! In between scoffing mince pies and opening gifts I managed to squeeze in some doodling time to create a couple of packs for January’s P365 / P52 / journalling themed BYOC.
What’s black and white and red all over? A sunburnt penguin! No. Wait. Rewind. What’s black and white and red all over? A newspaper! (red / read – geddit?!) LOVE that joke! Here’s my newsprint / ransom note inspired BYOC alpha, Snippets 2:
I also made some little journalling cards that are perfect for adding to your layouts, printing off and using on your hybrid projects or even for recording your memories on and slipping into page protectors! I really enjoyed making these, I think there will be more coming soon! These Doodled Journalers are new in the store and 20% off all weekend (check out the BYOC special deals for extra discounts!)
Are you doing P365 / P52 this year? I am going to be doing P365 (but not worrying if I miss a day and to be honest, I already plan on cheating a lot!) and starting again with Project Life too. I have a feeling it’s going to be a fun year! All the best for a wonderfully happy and healthy 2012!
