So long summer!

I think it is fair to say that, sadly, summer is well and truly over here. The children are back at school and the weather has definitely changing – the leaves are turning and soon summer will be a long distant memory. As he school holidays took it’s toll on my design time, I wanted to share you a little snapshot of what we have been up to during the summer!

We had a lovely, relaxed family holiday by the seaside in Cornwall. After the chaos of the end of the school term it really was blissful!

Isn’t it beautiful? We hit the beach every day, even when it rained :) I was in rock pool heaven hunting for crabs and starfish, it was like being ten years old again! All the seaweed was a bit slippery though, I may have ended up on my backside once or twice. Ouch.

After a week or so of eating fish and chips and ice cream every day, we filled the rest of the school holidays with family birthdays, a wedding and visits along with the odd day trip thrown in too. We met some scary dinosaurs at the zoo (in the rain!):

Don’t worry. We escaped unharmed, in fact we had even tamed the T-Rex by the end of the day.

We visited the beach again a couple of times, this is Llandudno in north Wales:

Despite not managing to get hold of any tickets to the Olympics or the Paralympic games – and believe me, I tried, I even had some Paralympic tickets in my shopping cart but missed the chance to buy them by seconds before they sold out, argghhh! – we got into the Olympic spirit by holding the Paralympic flame, twice (and winning a big cuddly Wenlock!):

Visiting an Olympic cyclist inspired straw sculpture at a local ice cream farm, and sampling the ice cream of course, it would have been rude not to:

And going on a Wenlock and Mandeville hunt through London:

Someone was very happy to meet Captain Jack along the way (although another little person wasn’t very impressed to find out that it was Captain Jack Sparrow, rather than Captain Jack from Doctor Who!):

We had a brush with the long arm of the law…

…and finished off the day by going home on the Hogwarts Express. Sort of.

How was your summer? I hope you too had a wonderful time with your nearest and dearest!
